I want to commission a painting. What’s the process?
First, I need to know what you’re looking for. The process begins with me understanding what you need, and your preferences for size and color. Once we have a mutual understanding, and you’ve sent me all your reference materials such as inspiration images, paint colors, fabric swatches, etc, I can get started. If you need me to take any professional quality photos for, say, a portrait of your child, I have the equipment to do that myself and will do so happily (with a photography fee added to the commission price). I require a 50% deposit upon agreement, and 50% upon completion.
Can I see progress while it’s being painted?
As the process of the painting unfolds, I will be happy to email photos to you. For portraits especially, I like to check in with you from time to time, particularly in the beginning, so you can see the progression; it is much easier to make changes early on. Any reasonable changes or requests you may have during this process will be considered.

Prices range from $100-$500 depending on size and subject.
Can you paint a portrait from a photo I give you?
For realistic oil portraits, I will need a professional-quality photo (ie: DSLR preferred, excellent lighting, sharp details). If you have this already, that will usually work. If I can meet the subject, and take some photos myself, that is always helpful (but not necessary). For pets, a decent photo (good lighting, clear image, good detail) is all I will need. Any other special photo you may have such as a vacation shot, some flowers from your yard, a photo of someone who has passed away, etc: just let me know and I try to make it work (I usually can).
How long will it take?
Again, this all depends on the type of painting or project, as well as my current work load. I will give you an estimate of the time to completion in our preliminary emails. If you have a specific deadline, however, I can usually make it happen.
What payment methods do you accept?
Pay pal upon invoice, and checks as well.
How are paintings shipped?
For paintings under 36x36 inches, I will ship it to you (the price will range from $30-$200 depending on size). For paintings larger than that, we can talk about options. If you live close to me (Atlanta, Northeast Georgia area), we could arrange to meet or I can deliver it.
Can I use the digital images of your paintings?
No. All images, designs and content are protected by copyright law ©bethhenson2014.
Purchase of work, reproductions {prints} or products does not include the option of reproducing the image.
Where can I see more of your work?
See the “New Work” tab, and check "News" for updates on gallery showings as well!
